About Childline
Childline Foundation is a non profit organization registered since 2006 to uphold the rights of children (0-18 years) to survival, protection ,development and participation in Malaysia as provided under the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989, local laws and policies.
We work closely with Unicef Malaysia, NGOs and key government Ministries to enable the best interests of children including the setting up of 15999 Childline , a 24 hour free helpline dedicated to children
Vision
To ensure all children in Malaysia are listened to and protected from harm
Mission
To enable and empower communities to safeguard children from any harm, cruelty or maltreatment
Our Initiatives Focuses
Ending violence against children, EVAC
EVAC as a whole is a very broad topic and approach, it naturally disperses into too many avenues to be productively involved in to be effective.
Childline Foundation focuses on Child Online Protection because traditional protection challenges are now being amplified through the Internet.
Renewable Energy
A child-friendly city is one which implements the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the local level. As such, the guiding principles of building a child-friendly city mirror the overarching principles of the Convention. These principles include:
- Non-discrimination
- Best interest of the Child
- The inherent right to life, survival and development
- Respect for the views of the child
- Equity and inclusion
- Accountability and transparency
- Public Participation
- Effectiveness and responsiveness
- Adaptability and sustainability
Alternative Child Helpline
Childline aims to establish an alternate helpline specifically to serve children in Malaysia and to provide check and balance to the system.
As for Childline’s online initiatives, we partner with Internet Watch Foundation, civil society and the Government in establishing a reporting portal to takedown child sexual abuse material from the Internet.
