The Young Leaders Programme is a platform gathering young passionate people in Malaysia to form a fellowship of young leaders. The Programme objectives are to look into current issues related to young people as well as problem solving through awareness, education, partnerships and policy making. This UNICEF Programme is in partnership with Childline Foundation and Study Hub Asia.

Who is it for?

UNICEF’s Young Leaders Programme is open to all passionate young people residing in Malaysia aged 15-25 in 2021, as long as you are not born before 1/1/1996 at the time of registration

What is Young Leaders Programme about?

Young Leaders Programme is about gathering young passionate people in Malaysia to form a fellowship of young leaders. The Programme objectives are to look into current issues related to young people as well as problem solving through awareness, education, partnerships and policy making.

How long is this Programme?

The Programme is a 2-year fellowship with the first year focusing on skills-building opportunities and a hands-on project execution in the second year.

What language is the Programme conducted in?

Although the Programme will be conducted in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, proficiency in the English language is required as it will be the primary language throughout.

What is your time commitment required by this Programme?

It is estimated that your commitment will be an average of 8-10 hours per month for the first year and about10-15 hours per month in the second year.

How is it conducted?

As the Young Leaders Programme is open to young people from all over Malaysia, sessions will be conducted through virtual video conferences. When the pandemic situation allows, we will be organising face-to-face sessions.

I have a disability, can I join?

Yes, the Young Leaders Programme is inclusive for all young people passionate about issues related to children and young people in Malaysia. Sign language interpretation and other measures of support will be provided.

I am not a Malaysian, can I join?

Yes, as long as you are residing in Malaysia, you can join.

Do I have to pay to participate in this Programme?

No, Young Leaders Programme is fully funded by UNICEF Malaysia and participation is free.

How many Young Leaders will be selected?

A total of 40 Young Leaders will be selected in the first cohort I am not a Malaysian, can I join?
